On Wednesday, Feb. 24, The Quad received two honorable mentions in the 2016 Student Keystone Press Awards. The Quad placed in the Division 1 section, as any four-year college and university with enrollment of 10,000 or more students is considered to be Division 1.

The first honorable mention was for the Column category, won with former Editor-in-Chief Theresa Kelly’s ongoing Community Service Corner column in the Features section. The second one was for the Review category, won with current Editor-in-Chief Casey Tobias’ Emily Kinney concert review in the Entertainment section written last semester.

This follows The Quad’s honorable mention in the Website category last year. Dr. Philip Thompsen, faculty advisor of The Quad, said that he was very proud of The Quad.

“We had some tough competition in Division 1, including Penn State and Temple, both of which have professional paid staff, unlike The Quad, which is entirely student operated,” said Dr. Thompsen.

Congratulations to The Quad!

Casey Tobias is a second-year majoring in women’s and gender studies and communication studies with minors in journalism and German. She can be reached at CT822683@wcupa.edu. Her Twitter is @Casey__Tobias.
