Wednesday, March 16 marks the start of the second year of Mascot Madness.

A play off the March Madness basketball brackets, Mascot Madness is a competition between the 14 Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) colleges and universities, where schools compete with one another for votes via a poll on Twitter.

The mascot with the most votes and support moves up within the bracket and, after four competitive rounds, a winner will be chosen.

This year, WCU hopes to make Rammy the winner.

Ultimately, the goal of Mascot Madness is to demonstrate camaraderie, unity and friendly competition between the 14 universities in the PA State System.
The first round begins on Wednesday, March 16 at 9:00 a.m. The polls stay open for 24 hours.

Last year, WCU lost in the Final Four to Kutztown by 12 votes, one of the slimmest margins in the Mascot Madness competition bracket.

WCU’s first competitor in the bracket is the Mansfield University Mountaineer.

Anyone can vote for the Golden Rams by using the #VoteRammy on social media.
