My school career has lead me to find out (both the easy way and the hard way) that there are many different teachers in the world, and many different teaching styles.

I have had everything from the teacher of the year, to my third grade teacher who tried to tape my mouth shut with duct tape.

I used to dread school. I hated going to it and I hated everything about it.

But that all changed when I came to West Chester University.

Something happened when I came to college, and it had to with my major, and my amazing line up of teachers.

For the first time, I was actually learning about things that I found interesting, things that I wanted to understand and conceptualize.

That was not the only thing, however. My teachers had a huge impact on me, as well.

One of my communications teachers, Dr. Levasseur, had a huge influence on my schooling.

He had an attitude that I had never encountered from a teacher before.

He loved the material and the courses that he taught, he loved communications.

He wanted us to not only understand the material, but also to love it just like he did. He had a teaching style that was very different from other teachers as well.

I never felt pressured to learn. I never felt that I was being bombarded with information. But at the same time, I have never learned more in any other class than I did with Dr. Levasseur.

I came to college hating school, hating classes and dreading all of the work that was to come once I got to college.

Dr. Levasseur changed all that, however. Not only did I enjoy his class, I would look forward to it, reading ahead in readings that were given to us, and his positive attitude and love of learning rubbed off on all the students to the point where I wanted to learn not only for myself, but also for him, as well.

Thank you, Dr. Levasseur, for helping make my learning fun – an experience that I was very, very foreign to.
