It is finally November. The weather is  cooling down, and, subsequently, students will be searching for indoor entertainment. West Chester’s Department of Theatre and Dance has just the right treat! This November, West Chester University’s Dance Company presents Imprints, a dance concert.

Imprints is the collaborative work of faculty, students, and guest choreographers, show-casing a variety of dances. This year’s concert welcomes guest dance artists Jennifer Meckley, Gary Jeter, and Steve Vaughn. All three are professional dancers and choreographers working in Philadelphia and New York City currently. Department of Theatre and Dance professors Liz Staruch and Maria Urrutia both also choreographed pieces for the show; Staruch’s work is entitled In Sides Out, a duet that physicalizes the internal voice that accompanies most of our daily activities, while Urrutia debuts crossing an abstract landscape, a piece focusing on the theories of post-modern choreographer Merce Cunningham. This concert provides three West Chester students with the opportunity to display their choreographic skills. Look forward to original dance pieces by Bridget Carlin, Jacqui Cron, and Kate Lessig, plus two student-auditioned solo and duet pieces choreographed and performed by Natalie Flynn, and Kelsey Zolochik with Danielle Hetherington. The choreographers and dancers have been in weekly rehearsals since the first week of classes preparing for this concert.

Performances will be held in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre in the Swope Music Building Nov. 14 at 8 pm and Nov. 15 at 2 pm and 8 pm. Don’t wait to get your tickets; they are on sale now! Ticket prices are $12 students and $15 general admission and can be bought at the Bull Center Box Office (open Tuesday and Thursday from 2-4 pm), by calling 610-436-2533, or online at wcupa.edu/TheatreDanceTickets.
