Last week, police discovered a car filled with students down on south campus, here at West Chester. The car was releasing a smell of marijuana, leading the cops to begin an investigation. They found 40 pounds of what they suspected to be candy that was laced with marijuana in an apartment that one of the students from the car supposedly lived in. The candy ranged from small hard candies to pieces the size of a small orange. It was packaged in plastic bags, likely for easier distribution.
Tests are being run now to make a final decision, but the police are trying to get to the bottom of this. They believe that this candy was intended for college-age people and above. However, although this thought is discomforting, the candy could have landed in far worse hands, such as the hands of a child. This possibility cannot be ignored throughout the investigation and in determining repercussions for the incident.
While the plans on what this candy was going to be for are unknown, it seems to be that it was intended to be distributed and sold, from which point it could have ended in any number of hands. According to the police station, no one has been arrested yet, but the investigation will hopefully lead to the ring leader of this “candy plan.”
This candy was found just in the nick of time before Halloween. Police believe that it is an isolated incident and all involved drugs have been confiscated, but it is still another reminder to be safe on Halloween. Just because it is a holiday, does not mean people should let their guards down. Individuals should still not walk around alone or take drinks from strangers, and should use common sense.
