I know this sounds like an obligatory end of the year statement, but you know me, I really wouldn’t say this if I did not mean it. I want to thank you all for an incredible year here at The Quad. I can honestly say that the paper seemed to improve every single week, and the reason for that was your dedication and willingness to try new things and go beyond your comfort zone at times.
I feel extremely lucky that a lot of you will be remaining on the staff next school year, whether it be on the editorial board or as a staff writer or photographer. For the new staff members, welcome! You have some big shoes to fill, but from what I have seen of the work you all have done with this issue and with your articles and photos during this year I do not have a single worry about the future of this organization. I look forward to working with all of you and continuing to make The Quad the best that it can be. I already have some exciting plans for some things we can do next year and can’t wait to get started.
For you guys who are graduating, we all are going to miss what you brought to the organization. Some times I asked a lot out of you guys but each of you came through every time. Between Joey having to spend a whole semester as the lone editor of the biggest section, Jack picking up the editorials for me each week, Sam always finding a way to make her section look good when I gave her too many pages, Riley jumping right into the fire this semester and not missing a step, Kellyn stepping up to be EIC when I was away and doing such a great job with getting advertisements all year, and of course Jess, who I overloaded with pictures and favors but always came through, and always with a smile, you guys really made the paper what it is and I’m glad you were able to teach the incoming editors your ways so they can follow in your footsteps. Congratulations to all of you, and best of luck as you all move into the real world! Don’t be strangers!
Thank you also to Erica and Pat, who did terrific jobs as our business manager and online editor.
It’s has been great working with all of you this year, and I can’t wait to get started again in the fall. Good luck on your finals, congrats again to those who are graduating, and enjoy your summers!
Until next year,
Kenny Ayres
