This past week the country sat on edge awaiting the results of the 2008 elections. Frankly, the citizens of this country were fed up with how this country was being run, and finally they had a chance to speak out. However, were those people the students of West Chester University? Does anyone even know or care that both the House of Representatives and the Senate were taken over by the democrats? Or was such information put on the back burner as the country focused on the divorce of Kevin Federline and Britney Spears? It has already been shown that most of our generation is quite frankly too lazy to go out and vote. However, are we really that uninformed? Do we really not care about what is happening in the country that we live in? Do people even realize what a huge event took place this week with the over taking of power in the House and the Senate. I won’t even try assuming that more than half of the people know that we have a new Speaker of the House let alone that she is the first woman ever to hold that position. However, the only woman people on this campus were concerned about was Ms. Spears, and her impending divorce from K-Fed.

I am not judging, by all means as a part of this country you have the right to do whatever you want with the knowledge that is out there. As a student and as a citizen of this country do you not feel the least bit of responsibility to stay informed about what is going on with our government? Maybe Britney should run in 2008, then we might care.
