“What do you like most about kissing?” asked Michael Christian, author of the international best seller “The Art of Kissing” to an audience of West Chester University students, Thursday night. The show, which included 12 WCU students demonstrating numerous kissing styles, was held in Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall. Christian, along with his volunteers, made for an hour of comical lip-locking scenarios full of do’s and don’ts.
The book “The Art of Kissing,” from which Christian’s presentation is based, was originally released in 1991 and according to his Web site, www.kissing.com, has been translated into 19 languages. Christian, whose pen name is William Cane, released revisions of his book in 1995 and 2005.
Thursday night, Christian brought his comedic kissing presentation full of information, tips and many kissing techniques to WCU students. Twelve WCU students volunteered to demonstrate “lip-o-suction” and “the vacuum kiss.” Near the end of the show two volunteers along with pillowcase-like tongues, demonstrated the popular French kiss, how to spank while kissing, ear kissing, talking while kissing and long distance phone kissing were also demonstrated by the volunteers.
Along with the kissing styles Christian presented scenarios in which certain kissing styles would be most appropriate. For instance, while in a dentist’s chair is the perfect opportunity for women to claim their man and take control. Where as for men, sitting in a Barber’s chair getting your hair cut is the opportune time to win over your barber with your arsenal of kissing techniques.
One of the most frequently asked questions Christian receives is how to get rid of hickeys. At the end of the show the male volunteers demonstrated how to give a hickey on the arms of their partners. The secret to getting rid of a hickey? There is none. No matter how many kisses you know, the marks you leave behind will be there for all to see.
