Golden Rams outside linebacker Jimmy Lewis is considering a transfer to an NCAA Division I school, team sources said this week. Lewis was absent from the end of the season banquet two weeks ago, and is said to be unhappy with the direction of the program. Several schools are supposedly interested in the services of the 6 feet, 1 inch 230 pound linebacker. It is rumored that West Virginia and Alabama are among the teams courting Lewis, who will lose one year of eligibility should he decide to transfer. Lewis would be one of twenty starters returning to the lineup for a Golden Rams team that won the Lambert Cup as the best team in the East Region of Division II Football in 2006.

In 2006 Lewis amassed 71 tackles and one interception and has been a leader both on the field and in the locker room for the Golden Rams.

Head Coach Bill Zwaan refused to comment on the situation, waiting to “see how it plays out” before issuing a statement. Lewis could not be reached for comment. This situation must be resolved within the next two weeks, before teams get too involved in their off season conditioning programs to welcome new recruits.
