No 2. West Chester improved their winning streak after back-to-back wins against C.W. Post and Millersville on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.

The streak began in a contest against first time competitors, No. 9 C.W. Post and wrapped up with a 4-1 victory for the Golden Rams at Hickox Field.

Nicole Fiorilla and Leah Angstadt were credited with two goals and two assists, respectively.

West Chester (6-1, 2-1 PSAC East) took a back seat to C.W. Post (4-2, 1-1) as Lyn-Marie Wilson gave the Pioneers an early lead three minutes into the contest.

Ten minutes later, Alisha Moran tied it up with a 6-yard shot with an assist from Leah Angstadt to put the Rams on the board 1-1.

Fiorilla came up with her first goal of the game into the lower right corner in the 25th minute off of an assist from Brynn Adams.

Fiorilla kept the momentum going by dribbling past the Pioneer’s goalkeeper and shooting into the empty net. The half ended with a 3-1 lead.

In the 48th minute, Kayla Gluchowski closed out the scoring with her second goal of the season. Angstadt’s assist on the shot marked her second of the game, solidifying the 4-1 victory.

The Golden Rams held a 23-10 advantage in shots in the contest.

Kristin Arnold (5-1) registered five saves in the net for her fifth win of the season. C.W. Post goalkeeper, Devon Trenkle, was credited with 12 saves for the loss.

West Chester carried the momentum to their next match against Millersville resulting in a 4-3 triumph on Saturday afternoon.

Gluchowski came up big in the game, contributing a goal and an assist in the game.

Michele Schrift initiated scoring in the 11th minute with an unassisted goal, putting the Rams up 1-0.

Nine minutes later, Millersville’s Samantha Ruane took an opening from the left side and sailed a shot past Arnold to even the score 1-1.

The Rams ended the half with an even slate and a 7-4 disadvantage in shots.

Angstadt took control of the score two minutes into the second half with a goal from 5-yards out to reclaim the lead, 2-1.

In the 45th minute,  Kirsten Dively received a penalty corner and passed to Katelyn Zapp, who sent the ball into the back of the net to tie the score once again, 2-2.  

Gluchowski broke the tie once and for all with a shot in the 55th minute, giving the Rams a one-goal advantage. Six minutes later, she assisted Fiorilla in West Chester’s final tally of the game.

 Millersville’s Brittany Troutman netted one more to cut the Rams’ lead. That was not enough for the Marauders, as that capped scoring for the game with a final score of 4-3.

In spite of their win, the Rams were outshot by a margin of 20-15.

Arnold made five saves for her sixth win of the season, only dropping one this season. Sarah Dickenson was credited with six saves in the loss.

 The Golden Rams take on East Stroudsburg for a home game at 3:00  p.m. on Tuesday at Vonnie Gros Field.
