The Presidential Search Committee is in the process of reviewing applicants for the position of West Chester University President. The committee has met twice so far to review the candidates, and the members are expected to meet two more times before the Christmas holidays.

Committee member Cliff Johnston of the Mathematics department said that the evaluations are geared towards the qualifications outlined in the profile that went out last month. The committee has not met to discuss individual candidates as of yet.

According to Johnston, the meetings that are coming up are to narrow down the candidates. There will then be a process of interviews, which will narrow down the candidates even more. The candidates will be coming on campus in February to speak to the students and for the students to get to know who the candidates are.

“The students should be aware of who the candidates are,” Johnston said. “They should know how they feel and ask the prospects questions that they want answers to.”

After they visit WCU, the committee will narrow it down to three names. The Council of Trustees will have meetings in February and give the names of the prospective individuals to the Board of Governors by March.

The WCU community should know who the next president will be in March or April.
