April 9, 2004Jeff Brennan won his eighth game of the year as West Chester split a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader on Friday afternoon with Mansfield University at Serpico Stadium. The Golden Rams are now 8-2 in the PSAC East and 27-4-2 overall.

Matt Redcay went 3 for 4 with two RBI in the first game, while Jeff Lamb was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Brennan allowed three base hits and struck out six to collect the victory. In the second game, West Chester stranded 10 runners on base as Mansfield eked out a 2-1 win. Mansfield scored an unearned run in the first and the game-winner in the third. Erik Ruff went 3 for 4, while Redcay had a hit, walk and scored a run.

Matt Redcay reached base four times, Josh Yocum drove in two runs and Jeff Brennan picked up his seventh win of the season as the #11 Golden Rams torpedoed #3 Shippensburg 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.

The victory improved WCU’s overall record to 26-3-2, while the Red Raiders fell to 29-5. Shippensburg entered the game ranked third in one poll and fourth in another, while the Golden Rams were 11th in one D-II poll and tied for 12th in another.

Redcay was a huge catalyst for WCU. The senior shortstop made several outstanding plays in the field, including several double plays he generated. He was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, two walks and a stolen base.Yocum went 2 for 2 with a run, walk and two RBI, while Jared Lydon was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

Jeff Brennan entered the game in the fourth and threw two innings of two-hit, one-run ball to garner his seventh victory of the season. He is 7-0.The Golden Rams scratched out single runs in the first and third innings, then scored twice in the fourth, two more times in the fifth and added a run in the sixth.

Adina DeHainaut threw a no-hitter in game one and Jackie Ludwig blanked East Stroudsburg in game two as West Chester swept the Warriors Thursday afternoon in a PSAC East twinbill.West Chester won both games by identical 1-0 scores to improve to 10-15 overall and 4-6 in the PSAC East. ESU falls to 10-13-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the conference. In the opener, DeHainaut struck out two, walked just one and benefited from an unearned run in the third inning to secure her fourth win of the season.

Erin Davis scored the only two runs of the day, including one in the first game without a hit. Both ESU and WCU hurled no-hitters at each other until Andrea Pappas doubled in the fifth.In the second game Jackie Lugwig struck out two and scattered four hits in claiming a 1-0, five-inning shutout victory. Falan Glynn drove in Davis with the game’s only score as WCU completed its first conference sweep of the season. The Golden Rams actually scored two runs in the bot-tom of the fifth and still had runners on base when the game was halted. All scoring reverted back to the last complete at-bat (ESU in the top of the fifth)

Bloomsburg pitching limited West Chester to just two base hits in the doubleheader as the Golden Rams were swept 9-0 and 8-0 in Bloomsburg, PA, on Friday afternoon. Falan Glynn and Jackie Ludwig each posted base hits for WCU.West Chester is now 10-17 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC East.
